Substance Abuse

Substance Abuse

The Substance Abuse Prevention Task Force, led by DJ Coles, promotes communicating the dangers of substance abuse and the availability of treatment resources. To join the task force and for more information, call DJ Coles at 731-6933.

Mission Statement: The Wayne County Substance Abuse Task Force is a coalition of community professionals who are working together to prevent and reduce Substance Abuse among youth and adults.

Our goals are to:

  • Educate youth, families, and community leaders
  • Pursue trainings for Task Force Members
  • Encourage alternaitve activities for youth
  • Raise Wayne County's awareness about Substance Abuse
  • Provide resources and support to families and community members
  • Support treatment and recovery services and goals
  • Be visible in the community at functions relative to substance abuse

As of September 10, 2007, Wayne County Schools became "smoke free" campuses. Wayne Memorial Hospital became a completely smoke free campus on July 1, 2008.
