Access To Care
The Access To Care Task Force provides acute and primary health care to the uninsured population residing in Wayne County through a Medical Mobile Unit and a Stationary Medical Clinic within the Goldsboro Family YMCA made possible through grants from The Duke Endowment, Kate B. Reynolds
Charitable Trust, State of North Carolina, and the Blue Cross Blue Shield of NC Foundation.
We completed 53,734 patient visits through July 2009. We now have over 9,483 registered patients.
The mobile unit has a regular schedule that we follow on a monthly basis. Ann King and Kathy Johnson, Family Nurse
Practitioners, provide the health care. We utilize volunteers to assist with
the program. We are also fortunate to have several local physicians that volunteer with us. They are:
Robert Dunmire, MD;
Clark Gaither, MD;
G.K. Gupta, MD;
John Haverkamp, MD;
Stephen Lies, MD;
Robert Meyer, MD;
H. Peter Roethling, MD;
John Welsh, Jr, MD;
Ross Wilson, MD; Kevin Wolf, MD and
Leonardo Zara, MD.
To schedule an appointment, call (919) 222-4450.
We also employ a Health Educator (DJ Coles) and an Administrative Assistant (Jean Jordan). Our Pharmaceutical Agents Terry Davis and Corey Vermeulin work through the Pharmaceutical Companies' indigent drug programs to procure medications for our patients with chronic diseases. Casandra Johnson supports the program
as a medical office assistant and Sheri Fine is the clinic scheduler. (Appointments are highly encouraged. We have no means of providing medications for acute illness). To schedule an appointment, call (919) 222-4450.
